As the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday, marking 64 years in power, here at Kantar we’ve been looking at how people feel about the Queen, and if they are celebrating her birthday.
A poll by Kantar’s Lightspeed GMI found 71% of Brits think the Queen is doing a good job (45% - very good). Just 3% of respondents feel the Queen is doing a bad job (2% - very bad).
Although the majority of respondents feel the Queen is doing a good job, not many will be celebrating her birthday. Only 15% confirmed ‘Yes’, whilst 84% of Brits reported ‘No’. Of those confirmed as celebrating the Queen’s birthday, 4% plan to celebrate at a public party or event, and 11% in private or with family. Official birthday celebrations are held in the UK in May and June.
Rosie Hawkins, from Kantar’s TNS, has been looking at the long term brand management and legacy of the ‘royal brand’: “The Queen has reigned through decades of change and still stands strong at 90 years old because the royal brand has kept hold of the stories that people really care about; love, loyalty, family and a firm hold of British tradition.”
