A new survey looking at Christmas spending in 2012 shows
shoppers are finding that their finances do not stretch as far as
they used to (44%), and some people are often short of what they
need to pay for bills and other essentials (16%).
- 44% find their finances do not stretch as far
- 16% are often short of what they need
- 65% will spend less on presents this year
70% of respondents admitted to being worried to some degree
about the cost of Christmas food and gift shopping.
There is a feeling, which is probably not a huge surprise, that
the economy is making them consider what they are purchasing.
Shoppers must keep track of their money more than they have had to
in the past.
Of those who were concerned, many said they will spend less on
presents this year (65%) while some have been saving vouchers and
points throughout the year to use during the peak season (27%).
