It was the last in the series of the Geordie lads’ Saturday night offering this weekend, and the boys certainly pulled out all the stops with an entertainment extravaganza broadcast from Florida’s Walt Disney World. The episode received 18,197 Tweets in our 24/7 tracking for Saturday 08 April, which in turn created 10.4M Total Impressions.
Some of the joy from the “happiest place on earth” certainly rubbed off on Tweeters: the show was a hit with viewers, receiving 41.4% Positive Sentiment, with Admiration and Laughs the top two emotions present in Tweets.
The show also saw a special reunion for Ant and Dec with their SM: TV Live co-star and chum Cat Deeley, who was revealed as the villainous Maskface in the dramatic finale to The Missing Crown Jewels. Fans were over the moon at the SMTV reunion, with both “SMTV" and “Cat” each mentioned over 600 times. The series finale was particularly popular amongst 21-34 year olds, with 57% of Tweeters originating from this age group.
The final episode of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway stole an 11% share of all Social TV activity for Saturday, and hit the top spot on both our 24/7 and broadcast Leaderboards for Saturday.
Elsewhere, The Last Leg boys welcomed former Labour leader Ed Miliband to the sofa on Friday for an analysis of the week’s political events. The show hit the top spot on our 24/7 and broadcast Leaderboards for Friday 07 April, attracting 32,213 24/7 Tweets which in turn created 4.6M Total Impressions, with over 30,000 of these Tweets sent during the broadcast window alone.
The peak moment of interaction occurred when Ed Miliband became the The Ed Mili-Band, recreating classic pop videos, complete with a new rendition of his famous bacon sandwich photograph. This resulted in 11,265 Tweets sent in just three minutes. Miliband’s inclusion on the show saw #Milibacon the most-Tweeted hashtag, present in over 65% of all Tweets, and #Milibanter the third most-Tweeted, present in nearly 20% of Tweets.
Overall, The Last Leg secured nearly 15% of all Social TV interaction for the day on Friday, and saw a 2,600 % increase in Tweets over the series average
